Gyrotonic uses unconventional-looking specialized apparatus to work major muscles groups, both independently and with integrated movements, avoiding impact on the joints. The trainer guides the client through a series of gentle movements to improve strength and range of motion. Gyrotonic is particularly useful for healing and helping the body rehabilitate through normal movement patterns.
 
Gyrokinesis uses a mat and stool in exercise sequences that expand on spiral motions, incorporating balance and cardiovascular exercises.  The method then ends with a calming, unwinding sequence designed to prepare the body and mind to re-integrate with the every day world.
